Project

So this is what I've gotten together so far for the project. I missed the last class, so I can't be totally sure if this is completely follows guidelines for the assignment, but I've decided to use some quotes from Chuck Palahniuk's book, Choke, and mess with the font styles and use some images to really punctuate the parts I used. I really like his writing style, even though it can be kind of morbid.

Hi there, Zach:

I really like your multimedia writing. I think that what you're doing is right on track. Your use of visual and textual elements are interesting, fun and relevant to your chosen text. The text is great! Funny and strange... perfect for this kind of assignment, in my opinion. Good job. -ERiN H.

I agree with Erin. All of your words and pictures are really random and my eyes bounce around the page as soon as I opened your image (which I think is what's supposed to happen with this type of project ?). I think the text from your book is really good too because it really throws me off since I haven't read the book. Maybe a different layout for the sentences and pictures--some overlapping or text that runs in different directions. --Jenn

Zach: Excellent image. I really like it. Do you think it could be even more dense, with background textures behind the foreground images and text? Perhaps the background contrasts with and comments on the foreground. I haven't read Choke but I've read other Chuck P. books and I imagine the imagery might turn rather more violent and morbid... I think you should work with that, or at least not shy away from it - get the writing style into the project and think of a suitable image, or at least a suitable design - color, layout that captures the morbid.

Your project reminds me of a mad lib or magnetic poetry composition. I like the way you solidify the text with the images it really ties the piece together.
It gives the viewer a sense of uneasyness and I think that is what is great about it.

Imagery and words. I like the image of the words a bit more than the images themselves. The words that are colored and have different font are good and to me they are a good representation of the idea behind them (such as red meat looks bloody and raw). The pictures work with certain words of the text as they are images related to some of the thoughts.

As mentioned above, I like the way the words bring emphasis to the thoughts surrounding them. Such as the "Blue Danube Waltz" which is blue, but also the font is flowing, yet sharp at the same time, much like a waltz.

For me, the images don't really work. They're off to the side of what they represent making it distracting, because one reads then linearly with the rest of the words and it doesn't quite make sense. My suggestion would be to either remove the images or place them in place of the words they are meant to represent.
